Welcome to the information technology site maintained by Smith College Information Technology Services (ITS). It’s our goal to ensure that students, faculty, and staff have the access and support necessary to have a successful digital experience at Smith.
To learn about how the site is organized and ways to browse resources or find something specific, see Using This Site. To find information about a specific topic, use the site search (magnifying glass at the top of the page) or check out our A to Z Resources. For notices about planned maintenance and active service alerts across Smith services and platforms, head to the Status page.
Remember to stay vigilant about Cybersecurity - YOU play an essential role in keeping our community safe. Bad actors can send malicious links to try to gain access to your accounts, or use tactics like fake party invitations to trick you into downloading malware. If an email message is suspicious, don't click, and more importantly, never approve a Duo request you didn't initiate. If you receive a Duo request you did not personally initiate, deny it and follow our instructions under Fraud Prevention with Duo.
Two important changes to Duo authentication methods are coming this spring. As cybersecurity attacks and phishing attempts become more sophisticated, we remain vigilant in our efforts to keep the Smith community safe and your data protected!
Starting April 14, when you use the Duo Mobile app to approve login requests, you’ll be required to enter a verification code in the app–this helps prevent accidental approvals. See how it works.
After May 27, text message passcodes and phone calls WILL NO LONGER WORK to approve logins! (Pushes to your phone will still work)
If you already use the Duo Mobile app on your phone or a security key to approve login requests, you are all set. We recommend making sure you have at least one backup device available in Duo in case you forget or lose your primary device.
If you currently rely on texts or phone calls, please switch to another method soon to ensure you can access your Smith account after the change. Students--don’t wait! Make the changes before you leave campus.
For more information and instructions, visit the Duo project page.
Reminder! If your work requires the full Creative Cloud suite (e.g., Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere) after May 26, 2026 and for the following fiscal year, confirm by completing the Adobe Creative Cloud License Request form. The deadline for priority consideration is Friday, April 17, 2026. For requests submitted by the priority deadline, you will receive a reply by Friday, May 1, 2026. Note: Check out Adobe Express Premium to see if its newest creative design, photo, and video tool features meet your needs!
As part of Smith’s AI Initiative, Smith's Google Gemini chat and NotebookLM are now available to faculty and staff in Smith’s Google Workspace environment. For help getting started with these tools, visit the AI Tools List on the ITS Generative AI site. Please note, commercial (personal) Google accounts are NOT approved for Smith data. You must be logged into Smith’s Google Workspace to use these tools with Smith data. If you have questions about your data and whether it can be used in AI, visit the Data Security Page on the Generative AI at Smith website.
Great news! All Smith employees and students now have full access to Adobe Express Premium, a cloud-based visual content creation and design tool. Use it to: create newsletters, flyers, course projects, portfolios, infographics, edit photos, and more. Users can also access premium features and thousands of templates and Adobe Stock images. To learn more and to sign up for an upcoming Adobe Express drop-in session, see the Adobe Express page.
Quickly connect to frequently used applications. Access is provided through your Smith account. See Quick Links for a full list.
This policy outlines the behaviors, practices, expectations, and requirements for all who use Smith’s technology resources. All Smith affiliates are required to affirm their agreement with this policy annually. Those who do not will lose access to their Smith account.
